My girlfriend was born with a rare congenital kidney disease called msk. It's made her live a life of chronic pain due to continuous passing of kidney stones and regular urinary tract infections. Her symptoms developed at younger age around 10 and she was only diagnosed in her 20s after larger 13mm stone became stuck and she had to get it surgically removed which when going in they noted the disease. It's almost defined her and has restricted her from pursuing a number of passions. The only relief she seems to get from the chronic pain is prescription opiates. Due to medical not being legal yet. Which is bitter sweet on one hand she has days pain free on the other she has developed a dependency and it is a great struggle to get these meds. Constant pain management appointments and endless judgement dealing with looks of disbelief that someone so young isn't just a drug seeker.

Along with the physical ailment. There is a long history of mental trauma. Her mother from what I've taken, was a heavy pot smoker and light alcoholic living with girlfriends father who was an aggressive, low life, country bumpkin ,heavy alcoholi, drug dealer. All while she was pregnant. A few years after she was born her mother decided it be time to get her act together. So along with her older brother, her and her mother moved away from the bumpkin into a rehab clinic suited for families.
