I partly agree with you. Awareness and knowledge can definitely be gained through personal experience. So in this case a woman of color as a diversity officer. But also through study, work and secondary experiences. A man could therefore be just as qualified. To give another example. A addiction rehabilitation officer. There are people who are qualified through their own rehabilitation process. But also people who studied and gained similar knowledge through other means. Will you dismiss them as a candidate beforehand, because they have less personal experience?

Not considering certain groups in a hiring process might lead to better representation of population groups. But is opposite to equality in my opinion. Representation and equality are difficult to attain simultaneously.
