White House tries to take credit for planetary programs it gutted

Not sure what your point is. Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Nigeria, etc. are countries that have oil and infrastructure that vastly outproduce the USA, no matter what, and it costs so little for them to pump oil. It sits under the ground in wells, they built the faucets, and now they just turn them on. Shale gas is harder and more expensive to produce. The only reason it's produced is because the price of oil is high enough to make that endeavor profitable. But those days are over in the near-term, foreseeable future. When oil was $110 a barrel, the US shale revolution led to huge increases in US oil production. But now these other countries, that bleed oil, have opened up their faucets and they can't afford to close them. They're not slowing down soon, and US shale producers can't afford to sell oil at prices that low. The Obama administration hasn't done anything to curtail US oil production or the shale revolution, except for not approving the Keystone XL pipeline (which only affects the profitability of Canadian oil production anyway). But cheap oil has ruined a lot of shale producers
