This point ignores multiple other factors that contribute to the problems with recent we see today but there is a bigger problem with this argument and that is that American slavery is somehow similar to other forms of slavery that have existed and that’s not true.

The American form of chattel slavery wherein slaves were treated strictly as property to be used until they died, that their descendants would be slaves is a unique institution that is unlike most other forms of slavery even going back to biblical times.

These other forms of slavery largely did not treat people like property, did not enslave their descendants, and many slaves were allowed to be free after a time.
