Grew up the great white north and there are a few days that really suck balls when it hits the rare low-90s and its also like 80% humidity... but also in the great white north, the heat doesn't stick around at night. So toward the evening things get pretty chill. We also had this cool thing called an attic fan. It is a very large fan (maybe 30" in diameter) that is mounted horizontally in the ceiling in the central location of the house. You turn it on and it creates massive negative air pressure in the house. Open up some windows, and it's like every window has a 10mph breeze coming through it. And all of the heat is exhausted through the attic so your attic is also cooled down for the night time. Attic fans are kind of a thing of the past but they are freakin sweet! Also great for just airing out the house. Making something stinky for dinner? Turn the fan on. Painted a room and want to get rid of the fumes? Attic fan. Did you just drop the worst load of your life? Open the bathroom window and no other windows and turn on the attic fan... 50mph winds will blow off the stank real quick.
