My experiences are far from unique. It's estimated that 1 in 3 women experience at least one incident of sexual violence. But that statistic is likely to be underreported. I never reported either of the assaults I went through. The first time, I blamed myself and was too ashamed and, besides, I had no idea who he was so it wouldn't have done anything. The second time, I wanted so desperately to believe that he was telling the truth about having been because he was someone that I trusted.

Almost every women I talk to has at least one story of sexual harassment or assault. Most of them have never reported it. Most of them blame themselves at least a little bit.
