Will our HECS debts seriously be indexed by 2.20% this financial year?

Honestly, I think it's reasonable. You got an education and you pay it back in proportion to your income. It's not like there are debt collectors at your door.

If you want your degree to make you money then you need to choose an industry that pays well. In reality it's rare that the job that pays well will be your dream job. I never had a dream job but I chose a degree that gave me earnings potential. there aren't jobs that pay over 100k that don't require hard work, weather it's FIFO or 60 hour weeks in an office. You get back what you put in.

I did a 3 Year Degree in a fairly lucrative industry. I worked hard and put a lot of effort into building my employability. Got a grad job, currently 65K as a trainee. My next pay grade which I will get to after 18 months will be 85k and I will be making over 100k within 5 years of completing my degree with potential for way more. Do I love my job? No, it's okay but I get my fulfilment from life elsewhere. If you want money you need to aim for it from the get go.
