Well a AWB has already been law in the US which would ban the most sold rifles in the US. The FBI, congressional investigation committees, the ATF, and the DEA all said the AWB had no effect on crime and would have little effect if it stayed law because "assault-weapons" are used in such a few number of crimes. Hillary had stated in her campaign many times that she would reinstate the AWB that her husband passed. Barrack Obama said that they have no place in American citizens hands, and with so many states that already ban them, it seems like another ban could be likely.

So it could seem likely that Hillary and if congress had a majority of democrats which a large portion support a AWB law, it could be possible that the most popular rifles in the US, could be banned for no reason.

Also no one thinks the government will take anyones guns, not even the most backwards hillbilly firearm owners think that. What most firearm owners do think, is that laws like a AWB could be passed, therefor wiping out firearms used for hunting, target practice, sports and self defense for purchase.

Every state I know of that passed AWB laws had a grandfather clause, well besides the new law in CA which still allows you to keep them with registration, besides NJ. NJ had no AWB grandfather clause so it became a felony to own the gun with no option other then to sell it in 90 days out of state or give it to the police for destruction, so if it didn't sell, well say goodbye to thousands of dollars.

Also, what is weird is pistols are used in almost every firearm related crime in the US, yet a very small amount of politicians try to restrict handguns federally currently, they would rather focus on feel good laws like banning AR-15's.
