A witty secondary punch line

I've been in like 3 real fights in my life outside of hockey (that's a different story) - one was with my best friend, another was me jumping into a fight where some guy was ringing another buddies head off the curb, and the third fight, well, this is the story.

I was in the passenger seat of my buddies dads car, my buddy was driving. We were turning left on the biggest intersection in a medium sized town. There was an older guy - probably in his 50's, crossing the road on the side we were turning into. As we are waiting for him to finish crossing, he stops in front of our car, and he scowls at us. We're about 6 feet away, and have a green turning arrow, but whatever - he's the pedestrian. So, I give the old "move along gesture" to him - like dude, we're waiting for you to complete your illegal crossing of the road, so speed up please.

Well, he didn't like that.

He ran towards us, hauled off and booted the car, swinging his leg as hard as he could to kick the front passenger side.

I got out of the car, in the middle of this intersection (probably 10-15 cars deep at this time of day) and hold my hands out like "what the fuck are you doing".

Well, he didn't like that either.

He ran at me, and gave me a solid poke in the nose, bloodying me instantly.

It was fight or flight at that point - and I could hold my own, so I grabbed him and rag-dolled him around the intersection while people honked at us. I gave him a few good shots, and basically kept pushing him down.

The cops were the 3rd car back in the intersection. There was an abulance the second vehicle back coming the other way.

So, the cops pull up, the ambulance pulls up, and everyone is out watching us.

The cops want to arrest me, but I'm having none of it - there's a few witnesses that tell the story - he kicked my car, then he punched me first. The cops only saw me ragdoll him around the intersection.

We both get cleaned up - me in a store where one of the witnesses was, and he in the ambulance. The cops come in and tell me that they're not pressing charges, and everyone goes their own way.

So, I get to school (college), and I go to the cafeteria. While in line, I overhear these two women talking about how some idiot was beating up some old guy on the main street.

I told them "maybe that idiot had his car kicked and was punched in the nose first."
