I worked on Manifest - ASK ME ANYTHING!

This is what I needed to hear when I was in your position. To break in and just get on set, you’ll be a production assistant or something like that. To get hired as a PA, keep an eye out for productions or sets that are in your area, ask who the Key PA is, and then share your info with them. I can’t tell you how many PA’s I’ve met that told me a story about how they got started in the business by doing something like that.

If you live in NY, LA or Atlanta, this is exactly what you should do. As far as outside of those markets, there are newsletters you can subscribe to that reveal production details that you can send your resume to. Facebook pages are also big too. They’ll post who they need and when, but its an opportunity. Its a bit of a hassle to market yourself that way, but it works for some.

This is still an industry very much built on word of mouth unfortunately. Once you’re in, you get hired through recommendations by all of the people you’ve worked with before. The facebook groups are a nice way of opening the door to people, but networking and pitting yourself out there to be a wanted commodity is big. Hard workers fo far in this industry.
