You're right, that is one possible outcome but you could've found a less rude way to say it. Obviously rich and prominent people will be going first, likely long before climate change will potentially kill everyone. But is that better than NOBODY going? Really?

More importantly, if you really believe this is the only way it could go then I think you are paranoid and pessimistic. Once this technology is common, it will become accessible to the public like all other technologies have. And the poor people will more than likely have the opportunity to go up for free through work programs.

Also, did you know that one of the best ways to reverse wealth inequality is to get rid of people? Look at the black plague. Even with a nearly equal amount of rich and poor dying, it redistributed wealth and benefited the poor greatly. So, let's say all of the rich people go to another planet. I cannot pretend to know how the banking system would adapt to this, but I assume it could be similar to the other time in history where many people just more or less vanished.
It is a basic principle, if there are less people to consume resources then everyone has a larger share. I predict that even if the super rich bring their money with them, it will have a net positive impact on the Earth's economy. It's not like they were doing more than lobbying and sitting on their billions anyways.
