Would you rather have MLS be considered a top-5 league in the world or have the USMNT (or Canada!) be considered a top-5 team in the world?

This is really interesting to read for me as a German. I check out /r/MLS from time to time because I think it's really interesting seeing soccer grow in the US. People sometimes talk about the cultural differences between Europe and the US, different sporting cultures in different countries and that the MLS because of that needs to look what fits best for the US instead of just blindly copying soccer leagues in other countries (e.g. when it comes to the pro/rel debate). And I think nothing exemplifies the cultural differences between soccer cultures in the US and Germany better than your comment, because no soccer fan in Germany would say any of that, and most likely wouldn't even think of much of the things you said about club soccer. Clubs just changing names, changing locations or even moving to different countries is pretty much unthinkable. Whenever you see a post about RB Leipzig in /r/soccer you can see American commenting on not understanding the pure hatred German soccer fans seem to have for that club, and then often some heated arguments ensue. But it's just different sporting cultures, as German fans really do expect that the soccer clubs they support do represent the region and local community. So many German soccer fans feel that the local soccer club they support is "theirs", and that it's a much better representative of them than the national team. You can see that with the passion that people support their clubs in the stadium, and how lackluster the support is for the national team compared to that. I just find it so interesting that you feel completely the opposite regarding the club you support and the national team
