Would you stop playing if they removed 3rd person entirely?

That depends on what you define as difficult. The fact that you die easier in 1pp because of your limited perspective? Because it's arguable that it's not as easy to die in 3pp because of your expanded view at the trade-off of having to square off with someone where you can still die. So sure, you have a fighting chance, but then some people might argue that because of that fighting chance, it's more skill/tactic oriented (I wouldn't, but some might). And where you can easily see things your character normally wouldnt is arguable too. 1pp doesn't let me see things my character normally would see, where as with 3rd person i can just pretend to be using a mirror over a rooftep edge or knife blade around a corner or something.

You'll have to admit that 1pp is closer to reality than 3pp is. Mirrors don't really work like that.

However, as I said originally, this is not about realism per se, but about which mode causes more fear and gets the adrenaline pumping like a survival situation should. 1pp wins in this regard, hands down.

You're arguing semantics at this point. What I said was still within the confines of the original intention of DayZ, which is survival, not something so obscure and low populated as scenario'd DayZ on CoD (which wasn't within the intention of the game design, which is what makes the two games different, also that very clearly has nothing to do with 1pp and 3pp). I'm still out there surviving, even if i'm mostly just killing other people. Just like someone that's playing a hermit in the woods is still within Dean's vision. You wouldn't like it if everyone played as hermits in the woods and it was once in a blue moon that people found each other, but I see no complaints about that. All i see is bitching about your mode not being as popular as the casual mode. Which yes, 3pp I would consider the casual mode because it's true, it's a lot easier to die in 1pp, but that just means you have to fight in 3pp. Sorry not sorry for choosing the game mode that suits my desires of wanting to see my character and just so happens to be a little bit (yes, little bit because I have no trouble surviving in either. if 3pp is so much easier for you, you lack awareness in 1pp) easier. And considering that majority of the well known youtubers for dayz play 3pp, and majority of friendly interactions take place on 3pp (both because statistically more people play it and because having that camera advantage more often leads to friendlier interaction due to control of the situation via that camera whereas 1pp it's complete trust that's often rewarded with some lead), I'd say that 3pp does a better job of "make your own story."

Perhaps it increases the amount of stories, but it's at the expense of thrill involved in those stories. It's true that it's harder to trust people in 1pp for the reasons you stated, but that's not a bad thing. I don't want to fully trust strangers, I want barely contained, intense encounters. You make a friend in a situation like that, it counts for more.

Dean's vision for DayZ was clearly an intense, unforgiving game. That's what he wanted to do and perhaps it's precisely Bohemia's insistence on a more social game that made him outright state that DayZ is not the ultimate survival game he wanted to make. Perhaps that's why he's so adamant about the fact that his new game will be the harshest thing known to man, likely to the point of unplayability. However, what Dean wanted is no longer that relevant since it's no longer in his hands anymore. I for one like his idea of a truly harsh game, a whole lot of people don't, I find that sad since we really had a shot here with DayZ. So yeah, I'm bitching. DayZ is the kind of game I dreamed of as a kid.

Oh really? That's why it bothers you? Did you not play the mod? Did you see the overabundance of mods on it? And just how split up was the community then? Not as much as you're making it out to be.

I haven't played the mod before SA as I couldn't convince any of my friends to buy ARMA 2. But, I am playing mods for ARMA 3 now. Breaking Point, one of the most popular mods. Only one first person server for Europe, Altis, rarely ever full. Completely empty during the night, the game doesn't exist past 11 PM. So yeah, really.

There's everything to worry about if you're a 1pp player. The reason you're not noticing the division is because you play 3pp. There's about three full SA 1pp public servers in Europe, and this is with constant alpha update hype included. Every other day, I notice somebody in this subreddit claiming they don't want to bother spamming to enter what few full 1pp servers there are so they settle for 3pp and it's larger community. And that's during the day, nights are nothing but graveyards haunted by a handful of server hoppers. No modding support yet. By the time mods arrive, we'll have ARMA 2, ARMA 3 and SA, all with their separate mods and hives sharing a smaller community than ever as DayZ hype in general will eventually be dying down and there's H1Z1 to account for as well.

But yeah, call it an elitist grudge. I'm a shit player, plus my eyesight is failing. Big elitist here. All I'm really good at is Mosin, and that's only because I have patience.
