Wow I feel like an awful mom…

Honestly, I'm a germaphobe, but I couldn't care less about washing my kid's hands before they eat. She literally has her hands in her mouth all day, no different than when she eats. I wash her hands only if there's visible grime, or she's put her hands into something that could actually make her sick. I worry about active viruses from people grabbing her hands, poop or pee if she's grabbed her diaper during a change, chemicals if I think some residue is leftover on a surface. I'm not worried about my floors that we don't wear shoes on and mop weakly.

Some people don't realise how much of their hygiene practices are just for show and don't actually have an effect. If the floors in your home could make a baby sick they would be sick already.

Also, I second what someone else said, her comment was really rude. Even if she was right there are polite ways to discuss it and that isn't it.
