[WP] "I'm not afraid s/he won't accomplish his/her dreams; I'm afraid s/he will."

Some say that history repeats itself, but what if your history never happen at all? Who will learn, if all the wrinkles have been ironed out, after the fact? Hindsight is twenty-twenty, but we never seem to get it right in the present. It is in the present that evil must be fought, because evil exists within each heart, in every moment, whenever we must make a choice.

You might find me hypocritical, but you will have to let me off the hook; my present exists only in the past. The world ended, that is why I had to travel back. I didn't want to die, you can't really blame me. The world ended because people thought they didn't have to fix the present, they only needed to fix the past. Their present went to hell in a handbasket before they had a chance. Nasty people got their hands on nasty weapons because those who might have made a difference never got involved; they were too worried that they might make a mistake.

It is my experiment, now, to see if I can't undo the delusion of time travel... in the past. I told you that you would find me hypocritical, but remember: I don't have a present to fix; it was destroyed.

This was my first target: she was such a pretty blond thing, and don't worry, I haven't harmed her. She was beautiful, but she spit on me and called me names. She said I was some kind of Nazi. I tried to explain to her that her present had been destroyed. I will have to talk to her again, she has all the time in the world to learn why she was wrong.

"You're deranged," I said. She didn't know I was from the future yet. "No, no," she said, "If only you knew." A Kindergarten teacher, for once, who was not afraid a child wouldn't accomplish their dreams, she was afraid that they would.

It is people like you who killed the world, because you wouldn't learn. The past is the past for a reason, I couldn't let her kill young Adolf.
