[WP] Write about a stereotype, but with a twist.

A Guide to Being a Female English Major Taking Upper-level College Math:

Step 1: Dress however you want. No matter what you wear, when you walk into the classroom on the first day, guys will still stare at you like you are an alien. Not to worry, most of them like aliens.

Step 2: Show no fear. You've opened the door, and yes, most of the class is staring at you, but they are more afraid of you than you are of them. Don't believe me? Start crying. The room will clear faster than a TI-84 can graph a parabola.

Step 3: Find a friend to sit by. Try to find someone who dares to make eye contact with you. I know, I've just eliminated half of the class, but it's worth it because eye-contact people are the best! The others maybe would be great, but by the time they dare to speak to you normally, you'll be taking the final and can't talk anyway.

Step 4: Don't try to hide the fact you're in English major. Sure, they've already deducted points from your IQ based on the fact you're a girl, and sure, once they hear "English major" it has been lowered far enough to be level with kindergartner-who-won't-quit-eating-glue, but honesty is always best. Plus, then when you get partnered up for group work, you get to hear all kinds of wonderful compliments like "wait, you're actually smart." and "Wow, you really understand this. Why would you waste your money on an English major?"

Step 5: When asked if you want tutoring help, be kind. I know, you might have gotten good grades on everything so far, and the guy who asked quite possibly just squeaked by on his last test. Still, he isn't being a jerk, and you shouldn't be either. Just hide that 'A' on your test so he doesn't feel bad, and say "thanks, but I think I'm ok" with a less condescending tone than he used with you.

Step 6: Have fun and don't be too uptight. You're not your stereotype. Most of them aren't their stereotype either. Writing and spazing about them occasionally is all in good fun. Unless we're talking about that jerk from Abstract Algebra. Then everything is said with utmost sincerity and loathing.
