runescape has never had pvp. They created the wild to introduce the idea of pvp but it turned out that you cant actually balance player vs player when anyone can vastly outskill, and out gear their opponent.

pvp is fair - it gives an equal chance of winning to both people.

The wild before eoc, before 2007 was never that. And at the time that didn't matter because people generally risked things, and weren't that good so you could always find someone of equal or lesser skill and gear and still have fun.

And then jagex did something smart. They listened to new players to the game and realized, pking was not pvp. It wasn't fair, it wasn't fun to be outgeared and killed for all your stuff.

But what the didn't realize was that their entire community was full of childish assholes who didn't want fair, fun pvp. They wanted the ability to scam people. They wanted the ability to one shot people who didn't have a chance. They wanted a game of no skill at all in which they could bully other people. So they destroyed the one reason so many unskilled people were playing, i.e. the wild, and didn't replace it with something fun or fair or pitting people of equal skill against one another.

And that's why osrs is losing subs. That's why more and more people aren't pking - i.e. the only way you win is to risk nothing, have a blowpipe and void, and have your void buddy 10 steps deeper ready to pj with a d bow.

No one risks shit in osrs. They have no incentive to risk anything at all when at any moment they could be one shot by someone risking nothing themselves. And that is fundamentally unfun for those looking for a fair challenge, and not the definition of pvp.

And now they have deadman mode, the literally epitome of pking, where you can completely outskill, outgear, and risk nothing at all with "alt skill muling" or "friend muling", and simply kill people that have no chance, setting them back completely and taking their entire bank.

And eventually, you and jagex will realize "oh, people don't actually enjoy losing hours upon hours of work"

You see, eventually there will be an update that will allow more items to be stored in the deposit box. Eventually they will allow stacked items. Eventually they may even introduce level ranges for people you can and can't attack. But it will all be too late because everyone one will have quit and the only people left will be the assholes that like doing nothing but killing people that pose no danger to them at all.

So enjoy your dead content, and your shitty community.
