Why is your commute to work so long, and how do you deal with it without going insane?

Because i live in the biggest European city that doesn't have a metro yet (Belgrade, Serbia). Because infrastructure is still in the Eighties level despite city population jumping 1/3 since then, and car number rising around three-fold since then. Because more and more bus drivers (bus is the staple of our transport because of lack of metro as well as parking spaces for cars in the center) leave that line of work to become truck drivers because it earns them much more. So, we also have a shortage of bus drivers, which creates a nice packed ride in the bus you can't breath in, combined with a traffic jam outside. There's even a local joke, you can fit 50 people or 100 Belgradians in a bus.

And how do i deal with it? Usually try to get to the window, so i can watch people in the streets, get lost in thought etc.
