I don't mean just letting them get along as they are if misbehaving. Now I know our cultures are quite different from each others and I can't say for sure what happened in this case, but in America many teachers and parents are so paranoid about crime they overreact more than when I was younger. I grew up in San Francisco in a quiet neighborhood, but forced integration in the 70s meant that inner city ghetto kids and I had to go to school together. There was alot of chaos and it was a mistake on the part of liberal politicians. Still, none of my friends or myself got in trouble with the law. My mother died when I was 9 and my father was an alcoholic. At 14 I was drinking, smoking weed and taking tons of lsd. If I would have been treated they way they treat kids today for that, I would have been put in a foster home and be a homeless drug addict with a criminal record no doubt. You crazy Brits are totally different with your poor whites and the whole hooligan behaviour so I can only give you my experience of 46 years in the States.
