I have worked at a school which had a large population of Latino, Asian, and Eastern European students. It took me back how many of the Latino students had to have ESL aides specifically to help them with their work while the Asian and Eastern European students did not need such aides despite their accents and lack of total English proficiency. Eventually I came to realize that many of the Asian and Eastern European students had been living in the USA for less time than the Latino students and yet their English was better. Many of these Latino students had been born in the United States and yet they were still underperforming when compared to these relatively recent arrivals from the other side of the globe.

Let's be honest, this stuff matters but we're too politically correct to talk about it. The East Asians and Indians which come to this country are overwhelmingly educated, hard-working, and English-speaking while the Latinos that have been coming to this country are mostly campesinos. We're importing Latin America's hillbillies.
