2016 season - "They got it so wrong"

When you put it like that it sounds quite exciting, but when you watch the actual races you could be forgiven for not really seeing it.

To me the first few races were promising, showing that this could have been a really excellent season, even with Merc running away. I'm talking about basically the midfield, it seemed really tight and seemed to extend slightly into the front runners. Seemed like with strategy differences and stuff, there'd be some frequent close battles between a good couple of teams.

But then it suddenly fell off and returned to good old F1 status quo. And I don't really know why that happened. I'll have to blame development.

Bahrain sticks out in my head as being the last really enjoyable race of that kind. Basically after that it was gone. There were a few spikes, of course, but most of it had gone.

But I could be wrong. Maybe it's just me and I'm just a grumpy bastard and I've forgotten most of the season, because it's been one blur of so many races.
