Yes. I actually believe the evidence shows that exposure to something, whether in a positive or negative light, can actually lead to an increase in interest among teens. So, yes, plastering every single shooting all over national TV can actually put the idea in someone's head that otherwise would not have thought of it.

We've had semi-automatic guns for 100 years now. What has changed in the past 25 years that has led to such an increase in mass shootings? Could it be the guns? Or the fact that we live in the age of information?

I'd put my money on the "exposure" factor playing a much larger role than people care to admit.
