why men being willing to be promiscuous would cause this. Isn't it women who would determine how much sex men get to have by virtue of whether they say yes or no? I just don't see why being promiscuous would make men more attractive rather than less. I mean, if men are super promiscuous, that means that you'd have to know that, as a woman, your value is pretty much going to be determined solely by looks and you'll be treated like just one of a large interchangeable crowd. Which is exactly the way I imagine I wouldn't want to be treated as a woman.
First of all
It is survival of the fittest. You want the best genes you can get for your kids. You want a strong man to provide and protect your family once you have kids. That and the fact that the sex is amazing with a top tier man. So in stiff competition with all the other women you're trying to land a great guy ... The best you can get.

You're blowing it out of proportion with your promiscuous talk. Having a fling with say 5-6 women during a year does not make you promiscuous. That is a new woman every 2 months. That is not something to be singled out as out of the ordinary and to be shunned by women everywhere. Even if you add a couple of one night stand to the mix it will still not drive away women
It's just that by doing this he blocks you, cause those women have had better than you and are looking for a repeat.

Stuff like being too much in your head instead of paying attention to how women and the world functions. Instead trying to solve it all with your own logic. Since you're pride yourself on being an intellectual, try doing some empirical work in order to test your hypothesizes. I mean, you have a theory that women shun men that sleep around. Go out and test it. Talk to women and see if they'll confirm it. Or do some surveys here on Reddit. Just keep it neutral. No tainting the questions with judgements or too many adjectives. You know how science works, right? First you come up with a theory and then you test it.
Top of the list are:
Being too needy and and demanding ...
.. and also making sex a much bigger deal than it is. It's sex. You get naked have fun. Nothing needy leading up to it. No grand schemes of submission and marriage. No nothing.
You can talk about sex with a woman. You can propose it without much ado. The only thing that is important is that your world does not fall apart, if she is not interested. Just keep on smiling and carry on small talking and doing normal stuff without making it awkward.
Then comes all the usual suspects like:
Lack of initiative
Going for friendship and then attempting to ruin that with trying to lift that up to a relationship instead of going for sex and if that is good then seeing where it leads you
