32/M/US - Let's Start a Conversation that leads everywhere and nowhere

Hello! This will be a short one (maybe?) because I am just hopping on before getting one of the little ones down for the night, but wanted to toss you a line anyway!

This was my first time posting into one of these subreddits, and sure am glad that I did. Guess before I found this subreddit, wasn't aware there were so many people out there that were willing to just chat and share a little about themselves with a complete stranger. But, if I don't say so myself, it's kind of fun.

Let's see what's something I can share that I haven't yet, well, I have two kids (sorry if you don't have kids, I guess I'm that guy in this message that talks about his children) ... I try not to be "that guy" at work for all the single or childless people, but I'm going to go ahead and break that rule this time.

I think it's kinda crazy to think about it when you get time to actually sit back and just think about it, this is a little me ... growing and learning (albeit in frequently hilarious ways). Both mine are pretty young, 2.5 and 6 months ... I have a boy and a girl, I was lucky that I got one of each right out of the gate. But I've found that when things might not be going how you had planned it, either with my spouse or yet another business idea that didn't gain the traction I had hoped, that their smiles can always make me forget about all that other stuff, even if just for a little while.

In case you don't have any children, I love fantasy novels ... I'm on my second read through of Game of Thrones, although a very close second behind GRRM for authors is Brandon Sanderson. I've also started the Wheel of Time series ... although I'm only on book 4, and other novels keep distracting me. I am a developer by trade, currently, although I am looking to making it a hobby again and doing what I did while in the Army.

Our house is basically a zoo, we have 8 birds, 3 reptiles of some description, a dog, 3 cats ... and some number of horses that the wife keeps on her parents property.

Toss me a line sometime - I look forward to talking with you!

But there's always that nagging part of your brain that says you need to push yourself just a little bit harder, because even though I might be making pretty good money as a programmer (even when it's not really enjoyable anymore) ... there's a part of you that wants to hit what I call the internet roulette and make enough money to not just ... get by ... but to provide them with the opportunities to grow and be better than you could ever imagine yourself being.
