6 shot, 1 killed in DC shooting: Police

well it would seem that the term assault weapon burned itself out, so now everything that is semi-automatic is now all the sudden called military grade... these are fabricated classifications for semi-automatic weapons, a lexicon used to garner support for the banning of these firearms. "m we don't want to take your weapons away, we just want common sense regulations."

Now this is not a political argument here, but slinging language around that is just willy nilly applied to semi-automatic firearms in an attempt to classify them as something they are not (military grade arms, if one is going to label something as such are different, most often in quality, and are select fire, meaning the capability to be fully automatic.) It is an attempt to create a legal definition of something, without having legislation passed that actually does so.
