Advice for 2020

Since drum corps has no school or some type of standardized training to learn how to teach you play your luck sometimes with the types of staff you get. The most proficient marchers and players do not always make the best staff. Staff culture is also a thing and it's different from place to place.

Some of it is knowing the difference between being individually cared for and knowing they have to also look out for the group as a whole too. You want a staff that has concern for you and gives you the right feedback, but you are 1 of 150 also.

I don't know your situation, but there are enough drum corps out there that one will probably fit. Just research, try to talk to previous members and go in with an open mindset.
