Still to this day I don’t get why DCI itself and flo always fight to make dci so inaccessible. I’ve never wanted to watch an old show so bad that I bought the dvd. I understand you need to make money to operate, but DCI is a niche activity and kinda irrelevant outside the marching band members world as is these days. What they’re doing is ruining their chances of getting someone new that isn’t a band kid (or former band kid) going to shows. Would they not rather have the marching music arts be accessible and enjoyed by people all year, and possibly pick up new fans with it? Seriously, I have no problem with them making money. It just seems really obnoxious that we can’t even have finals multi cam runs of shows from years ago on the internet unless they somehow go unnoticed (some cases of that.) All it does is make great shows become forgotten and unseen. Sure, they own the rights to that footage, they can do what they want - but that doesn’t mean that I think it’s the “right” thing to do.
