After almost 4 months sober, I relapsed yesterday

I'd have to say that a one night stand doesnt make a marriage. A little white lie doesnt make you completely dishonest and untrustworthy. One swear doesnt make you a truck driver. Telling a joke successfully doesnt make you a standup comedian. And one lapse in judgement doesnt make you a failure. The time that you've invested in yourself and your sobriety isn't waisted because you had a few swigs of vodka. I wouldn't reset my time. But I would try to learn from it.

Ps. A thought I've had recently.. If we're not guaranteed a place on this spinning ball of mud tomorrow or the day after, then why bother counting at all. It's a one day at a time thing anyhow. I W N D W Y T. But, as I'm sure you've noticed, I am taking advantage of the day counter here on SD just to have a number to give to those that inquire. I personally dont keep track of it. Sobriety is a work in progress.
