At age 75 it is estimated that one in 25 people who catch coronavirus dies. This rises to one in seven people aged over 85 and one in four over the age of 90 (from the BBC). If you know anyone in these age groups, please ask them to be careful. The estimates below, just for England, are not good.

Yeah my grandparents and my other nan are at that point. Not letting me do shopping for them again because they really don’t want to stay in anymore. My nan’s in sheltered living (not quite a carehome, just a block of flats with carers) and a lot of them there feel the same.

Bet a lot of older people feel that way, which tbh is really killing my morale for the whole thing. Obviously I’m still sticking to the rules before someone jumps on me and calls me a granny killer, but it is making me question if all these sacrifices are worth it at this point, when in my experience, even a lot of the demographic who could die from it would rather take the risk.

Just praying there isn’t another national lockdown. The restrictions we have and the local ones, fair enough, not really happy but I’ll keep going along with them. But another big national one where we all have stay in and do fuck all but work doesn’t seem worth it to me.

Even ignoring the impact it’d have on mental health and the economic future of the country, the NHS was basically a COVID service for months. They’re still running massively behind, I’ve got a lump I need to get scanned and it’s taking forever. They surely can’t stop cancer treatments and stuff again.
