And speaking of this “saving money” business. OP, do you know *why* there are legal protections for pregnant mothers and new parents all over the developed world? Because it will NEVER be ideally convenient and profitable to an employer if human beings are allowed to have human experiences like establishing a family, but your employer shouldn‘t get to control your reproductive decisions by deciding to end your livelihood as a consequence.

This is *exactly* why these laws exist. Discrimination against pregnant women doesn’t take the form of a man twirling his mustache and shuddering that he just loathes the sight of a baby bump. Discrimination against pregnant women takes the form of, “I hired you to do what I say, and it is simply too inconvenient for me if you have a ‘life’ and make ‘choices’ that aren’t about work.”
