Because it will NEVER be ideally convenient and profitable to an employer if human beings are allowed to have human experiences like establishing a family, but your employer shouldn‘t get to control your reproductive decisions by deciding to end your livelihood as a consequence.

This is *exactly* why these laws exist. Discrimination against pregnant women doesn’t take the form of a man twirling his mustache and shuddering that he just loathes the sight of a baby bump. Discrimination against pregnant women takes the form of, “I hired you to do what I say, and it is simply too inconvenient for me if you have a ‘life’ and make ‘choices’ that aren’t about work.”
