In Alaska, a high bar for taking guns from the mentally ill: Esteban Santiago was mentally ill enough to walk into an FBI office in November with his infant son and inform federal agents his brain was being controlled by a government intelligence agency that wanted him to join the Islamic State.

That kind of hyperbole isn't going to do you any favors.

I don't need favors done. Our side wins in Arizona. Quite literally, gun control advocates could not be more thoroughly beaten in my home state than they are currently.

I rarely see anyone, even the most vocal gun control advocates, advocate for "extremist" measures.

Because you're not listening. We gun owners are on anti-gun forums, mailing lists, subreddits, and even attend meetings in person, and we hear exactly this.

("No One Wants To Take Your Guns").

Is a subreddit where all of these "slips" occur. But even if they didn't, we have the instances of gun confiscation in New Orleans, and this incident to distrust the motivations of those who support gun control entirely.

I would say the two "extremist" positions are that there should be no restriction on ownership whatsoever, and that no one should be able to have them whatsoever. We're a lot closer to the former than the latter. On the contrary, I think most gun control advocates are firmly centrist in that regard.

I have yet to hear any gun control advocate take someone more extreme on their own side to task for being too extreme. It is never gun control advocates who say, "Whoa, that's too far." Rather, they remain silent at best - at worst they retweet and forward absolutism.

I have no reason to trust gun control advocates.
