Yes, I want to squash this once and for all. Fans are indeed entitled to good music from the bands they have spent literal decades monetarily supporting, travelling miles to see live etc. As a musician, I know better than anyone, that fans are everything to any good band. No band, would be anywhere, without the people who supported them from day one. You owe the people who gave you everything you have today, to at the very least, produce a record that isn't a trainwreck.
