All Those People Ranting Against MotoG4+ | Here's My Rant Supporting It

Camera Issues

It's not camera issues, it's overheating issues, as evidenced by multiple videos.

Update Issues

Motorola's flagship still runs the February security patch. February. When they can't timely push out security patches while heavy skins like Touchwiz and MIUI can, even before Nexus devices, it gives people no hope that they're gonna have good support for a mid ranger.

Moto by Lenovo got plenty of stuff right

Sure, if it were priced $200 for the 3/32GB model.

People wanted to have bigger battery on Moto G: They got it

I'm just gonna say that of course it will seem better when the only thing you compare it to is its predecessor.

People wanted a better contrast display: They got it

Is this actually considered a selling point? It's just an average 1080p IPS screen.

People Wanted better specs: They got it

Better specs still aren't good. The Snapdragon 61x series is, plain and simple, underpowered for 1080p.

Don't compare it to chinese crap

Hmm, what should we compare a Chinese phone to? Certainly not to other Chinese phones superior in every way at a lower price because it will make it look bad. Let's compare it to some of the most overpriced phones in the price segment so it seems like it's worth it.

Here's what Moto by Lenovo didn't get right whatsoever:

  • Lack of a magnetic field sensor which I'm still mind-boggled about

  • No NFC, although most of its Chinese competition doesn't have NFC either

  • The design is subjective, but the fingerprint scanner and the tiny microphone next to it on the front I find disturbingly ugly

  • The Snapdragon 617

  • The Snapdragon 617 again

  • The regular G4 ships with a 550 mA charger and it takes over 5 hours to charge

  • Only 1080p 30FPS video recording

  • Still not enough of a battery. I believe it's around 9mm thick, and that's thick enough for 4000 mAh.
