Always double check every part of your paycheck

Mine is similar to the thread you're referencing.

My boss gave me a bonus for a few hundred dollars, but didn't tell me. I see my paycheck is lower than normal (I'm salaried, paid monthly, so I rarely look at my paystub since it's so constant). So I pull up my paystub, and it mentions a gift card.

Huh? What?

I talk to payroll: "you were given a gift card so we had to deduct taxes." No the fuck I was not! Turns out my boss had meant to code it as salary bonus, and payroll done goofed and coded the payout incorrectly.

This happened to several of my group mates. And it only got resolved because I was the only person who thought something was weird about my pay. The others wouldn't have noticed if not for me

(Before anyone asks, no, I don't think my boss was trying to scam any of us and take gift cards for herself; she just legit forgot to mention the bonus to me, but had mentioned it to others.)
