Am i the only one here not disappointed by the resolution?

I'm not disappointed at all by the resolution. I must have missed some posts because you say people are complaining but I haven't seen much complaints. I also haven't read the 200+ threads yet and only have read some top comments.

I will tell you how I feel about the whole thing though, my belief in why we didn't get specs when CB was first introduced was because CB follows the tech from the original Valve Room Prototype (VRP) and didn't follow the DK1 or DK2. Yes on the software side there was a lot learned from DK1 and DK2 and that learning did translate over to VR in general and that tech has furthered the runtime driver and SDK which is great. But when it comes down to it the hardware side is more akin to the VRP. Although next gen of the same hardware. although so is the vive.

So as that is how I see it what product should I get?

The Vive which is closely related hardware wise to VRP but also includes an input device, Lighthouse tracking and is going to have the Oculus SDK built into SteamVR so SteamVR can handle a multitude of HMDs or The Rift which is closely related to VRP as well with no Lighthouse tracking and no input device and is not going to open itself up to support other HMDs such as OSVR and/or Vive. Another factor that I don't know the answer to is Oculus' walled garden going to allow for SteamVR (Vive) HMD to work with software within its walls? i.e. Will software made with SteamVR work with The Rift, Vive, OSVR and any other HMD that comes out and makes a big splash, but software made with the Oculus SDK only work for the Rift and the software within its walls?

In the end since Oculus has Samsung making displays, things like pixel fill and refresh rate, etc will be increased so we don't really need a 4k display as of now. The goal really is to make it look perceived as 1080p on a monitor but within VR and there are many things that can be done to the display to make this happen while still not being 4k or above. But Vive being made by HTC another I can't see them being to far behind when VR displays are such a thing. Soon there will be Normal mobile displays and specific VR displays each with its own specs/use.
