LPT: If you are young and worried about your future, become an electrician/join the trades.

Can confirm, this is a good direction to go if you're unsure what you want to do.

I'd like to add a bit though. Trade skills aren't always what you assume them to be.

I work as an industrial electrician for a manufacturing plant. I started as just a plant technician and got selected to train as an electrician by the company. I was honestly nervous when I started because I had never worked in a factory and I expected it to be dirty and hard work. It's honestly the opposite. Federal regulation requires things to be clean at all times and the job itself is easy(this is of course dependent on the job).

On top of that I've picked up skills that I didn't even think would come up. I'm not really someone you would look at and think I work in a trade, I'm more of a computer nerd. But turns out, half my job is basically programming and 90% of my troubleshooting is done from a desk at my laptop.

Not to mention the pay is great.
