Americans, what is the rest of the world not ready to hear?

You should've seen the ads for beauty products where they discriminate dark skinned girls and encouraged them to get a "lighter skin" so that they'll get better job opportunities or feel more attractive.

I'm a black woman who frequents spaces and media primarily focused on combating colorism within the black community. Yet there are SO MANY Indian women who've chimed in with their own experiences being darker skinned in Indian culture and their stories are heartbreaking.

I mean I always KNEW colorism wasn't just a black thing, but when I saw some of the commercials and ads for skin bleaching erm, I mean brightening creams and serums marketed in India my jaw dropped to the floor. It's all just so blatant.
