An extended family member of mine was recently killed, and the pastor who spoke at his funeral says his death was a result of prayer being taken out of schools and America turning away from God.

I grew up in the Church. Like small town church. I've seen a lot of great people come in and out of Church. Their lives had become better for it. When I moved as a teenager I tried many other churches. They all seemed to be more of a cash grab than a place to "walk with Christ". Who has the biggest church, who has a cool band, who has a gymnasium. Not too many years ago I was having dinner with a friend and his church pastor happened to be there and introduced himself. My friend said to me "You should come to our service this Sunday" and this pastor said "Yeah, we'd sure appreciate your money". I grew up seeing a pastor with a literal trailer for a Church, a rental home, an old pickup truck, and a congregation full of poor farmers who looked out for one another and had positive outlooks on God and their relationship with him. This idiot had his sleezeball grin, his new suv, and did this as a job to make money. I say this to say that this funerals pastor didn't care what they said. They were trying to use fear to prey upon the weak for profit. I hate this happened to you but it's become the norm. Hasn't rocked my faith but I avoid church because of it. Sorry for your loss. You are so right to be upset.
