Andrew Yang wants to give everyone $1,000 dollars a month. Why is this a good idea? Won't the prices of cars, houses, etc rise?

I dismiss the word “endless” because it’s idiotic. If UBI requires $1,000 per month per person you can calculate the exact amount of revenue a tax would have to generate to support that expenditure.

Your use of the word “endless” is hyperbolic idiocy.

According to the Census Bureau, about 78.6% of the population is over 18. Population is 327 million. That’s about 257 million adults who would receive UBI (if limited to those over 18.

That’s a $257 billion annual expenditure. To put that in perspective, Trump has already increased defense spending by $200 million annually since he took office, while simultaneous reducing taxes on the wealthy and corporations (setting us up for one hell of a recession when the next one hits, but that’s another topic).

So clearly, it is painfully obvious to anyone who can do middle school math that the amount is not “endless,” and moreover that we could actually afford to do it, if not for people mindlessly bleating unfounded conservative talking points.

It would have to be tested and phased in to ensure it had the desired effect, but clearly it’s not fiscally impossible by any stretch of the imagination. That would be 7% of projected 2020 tax revenue, in a tax scheme that by and large let’s the wealthy off the hook based on relative ability to pay.

So again, “endless” was a stupid choice of words.
