Also, if she’s crazy, she’s likely not above making up lies about you that could get you in trouble. I used to think that one needed evidence for that kind of thing, but I just witnessed a good friend get her kids taken away and given to her abuser with supervised visitation for her for the sole reason that she ran to a DV shelter with the kids. He had a laundry list of lies about her to get his way (I suspect he assumed she’d go back to him if he basically legally held their kids hostage). She did not, but she is in absolute hell fighting this and she thinks about “giving up” daily. I am very scared that one day she will not message me that she’s “ready to give up” and I won’t be able to talk her out of it.

She made sure that the kids were able to see and talk to their abusive sociopath of a father. She would not tell him where they were staying. He had her busted for “kidnapping” even though there was no custody arrangement, divorce hadn’t been filed, and she remained in the same area (didn’t cross any state borders). “Pitiful crazy” and his family have money, and very likely used it (her own court-appointed lawyer didn’t utter a single word in her defense and the judge told her she was lucky she wasn’t going to jail).
