Anybody ever just...take a BREAK from calorie-counting? How did you do it? (Possible rant, ED trigger)

I still count calories, but I feel like if I had to stop, I'd still eat about the same amount. I can't really give you much advice on your over-restriction, but I can tell you what I do to avoid binging while still eating the right amount of calories.

I know everyone recommends eating a bunch of small meals throughout the day because it's healthier, but I always overeat when I try to do that. What I do currently is I pretty much only eat two larger meals a day. No snacks. Snacks make me eat way too much, and I usually end up eating shit I don't even really want like you did with the flour. Like I'll eat like 800 calories of honey and peanut butter saltines. And every time I buy a bag of chips, I will pretty much always eat the entire thing in a single day, irrelevant of what size of bag I buy.

So instead of snacking, now I just eat two large meals that are usually anywhere from 600-1000 calories for a daily ideal total of 1800 calories. Since my meals probably average out at around 800 calories, I don't ever feel like going hog-wild after. Maybe for you, it would be good to figure out how many meals you want to eat a day, and figure out about how many calories each meal needs to be and sort of stick with that. For example, since you've been calorie counting for long enough, you probably have a pretty good idea of how many calories are in meals without actually adding it up. Like you know a regular serving of mashed potatoes with butter and some chicken breast is going to be around 500-700 calories, so maybe just try to have 2-3 meals similar to that every day, depending on how many calories you need. 1200 does seem pretty damn low if you're long distance running, but you never mentioned your height and weight so I don't know. My sedentary TDEE is about 1800 calories, and here's a calculator just in case you don't know yours, but I'm assuming you do. I'm just concerned because you said you had a problem with over exercising, and even if you were really short with a really low TDEE, you should be eating more than 1200 calories if you're doing long distance running.
