Anyone into Spiral Dynamics?

Newborns would be beige, but can of course advance quickly, especially in some areas, like in metaphysics or in your approach to self-improvement.

Stage blue is also about self-discipline, honor, integrity. When I was young I cut all candy for a year and exercised every day to cement self-discipline. At a later time I did whatever I felt like. Now I don't have any approach to health but end up making the best choices for me. Another example could be when you're completely blank on some skill and have to follow it to the letter until you can discern its spirit. A very young child may approach their earliest advancement (of any line) this way. The infinite number of possible lines must imply that this advancement can carry over to lines other than the one where it was realized. Advancing different lines is also another way we have part lower, part higher consciousness. Perhaps we start with a universal progression and during life's turbulencies some lines gets stuck at one stage or another.

Yet another instance of descending stages is when integrating the earlier ones when at yellow, which could make you part higher part lower during those periods. This goes along with quick advancement as well. If you advanced through orange as a child, you would probably have more left to integrate before you were satisfied as an adult.

Regression is also likely if a higher stage would not work in an environment. If unable to escape the situation, and especially if crisis leaves you physically, emotionally or spiritually stuck there, it makes sense that you could regress for example socially or in your career, but you would still not let go of for example metaphysical advancement.
