Why we are not a "gutless" community, and why we shouldn't lean towards forcing Riot into situations.

Actually I have to disagree and agree on several aspects.

From what I interpreted from the previous thread, it wasn't that riot absolutely ignores the community and I think we're all mature enough to read between the lines and not take it so literal as to meaning that.

you also have to remember some of this stuff you're praising isn't done by riot a as company, but an individual in their own time, whether for fake internet points, their own personal desire of that feature or genuine kindness.

But then you have things like surprise party fiddlestick; created just for us as a "gift" after so many people wanted it, of course, at their new legendary price due to the demand.

I think this is a good example alone.

Why do I think Sion is a bad example? it's a hyped remake with a dedicated pre-launch page that just happened to have been "leaked" for extra hype and it's obvious they want to sell skins with a successfully appealing champion. they are a business, this is their profit area, they need champions and skins to be successful.

Champions, Skins, Wards, Avatars, chromas, champion remakes are all mostly art-based content revolved around profitability and consists of 99% of riots focus.

what do we have elsewhere? where are the regular, significant additions to the client? games features? bugs?

Most of the bugs that get fixed are either game breaking or they are forced to, due to not being able to brush it off.

this is what the OP i believe was mentioning. He's not saying they aren't nice, kind, charitable. they are human, but is riot truely "player focused"? I say nay.

but we did get:

  • Server split because of poor backend infrastructure that didnt really solve anything at the time.
  • Adobe air bundled with 3rd party plugins to provide bulk of client that, to the pleasure of so many dodge penalties and lost ELO, probably lost them many more customers than the cost of a client.
  • hacked together chat system using a 3rd party XMPP plugin (as im reluctant to believe they wrote it) used to pass some commands too such as game invites -.-;;.
  • hacked together game with more schoolboy programming errors than every pre-school child added together would make.

what else did riot do?

despite many willing to import an american magazine for the free cait skin, they all find out after that it would not valid in other regions when all other, previous skins could be, and gave almost 0 shits to what was then, a heavy bias to the US with free skins.

They've done a lot of shit, they've done a lot of good mostly a direct result of community outcry. ghost's noturns trail, gimp-mask-irelia. most of these weren't pleasantly requested, they were demanded with refunds if refused.

kindly asked for surprise fiddle > get to buy it at the awesome legendary price though!

You mostly only proved the other OP's point.

Sure, after feedback about buying 2 boots we get a quick update to stop it, but where is the intelligence in it? We cant buy 2xlevel 1 boots, but we can buy two upgraded boots if we double click and have the monies for it-.-;;

You can act deluded if you like, but a lot did get demanded with threats of refunds or were just smart for the purpose of champion content (aka sales, i.e irelia's gimp mask).

Real QoL like team builder, spectator, replays, refunds (ingame), anti-double purchases get a half-arsed attempt, then are abruptly ditched for months or years with no cares.
