Are people here actually serious when they say they hate consoles?

Some games ARE made for a controller! I fully agree with this, you'll never catch me playing a platformer with my keyboard. I got a gamepad for that reason... But that doesn't mean a console is the end all and be all since a PC can have any input device that uses USB or PS/2. A racing wheel, joystick, PS4 controller, Xbox 360 controller, XB1 controller and even methods for disabled people to use (Head tracking technology to be more specific). I don't think there is a console that supports more input methods than any PC though do correct me if I'm wrong.

It would be very stupid to make a console have to use a keyboard since a console is directed at living room (Or bed room if you will) entertainment. Who wants to be on their couch with a keyboard on their lap and a mouse in an awkward position? This is why the game pad is a thing... Though now you can't say consoles are better for living room entertainment either since you now have PCs that are smaller than the average console, perform much faster and have the steam library behind them which has a much larger number of games than any other platform. Valve recently are also getting people like ibuypower, Alien Ware and SCAN to build micro PCs that have the power of the average gaming PC to fit in your living room. This also puts down the argument (Pretty poor one to be honest) that you have to move your PC every time you want to play on your TV since we now have those dedicated PCs to do the job that aren't the size of the normal desktop PC.

Console exclusives are great and all but they are very subjective. I don't like little big planet or Halo, but I doubt you like most RTS games, 4X games, keyboard based MOBA games or any other game you can get on a console. It's a bad argument to use on either side. You can't say x game is objectively better than y.

You may be able to pick up a console for $400...But the costs add up when you have to pay for $60 for a single game, the sub for online, the accessories you want. I could build a PC that beats a console in terms of gaming performance for the same price (We have builds on this subredit just to prove it's totally possible. Here's a build!). I'm assuming you're typing from a PC right now. You can pick up a GPU worth $120 that beats any generation console right now. Put that in your current PC? Already cheaper than buying another console.
