Australia's opioid crisis: Deaths rise as companies encourage doctors to prescribe

My Father had an opioid problem. After a workplace accident left him with severe back pain he was on various opioids for years, morphine, Oxycontin, fentanyl...

The injury left him living in constant pain and unable to work or do what he loved. The drugs didn't help the pain for long, and he would have to have his dosage increased or be given stronger medication. As a result of his drug addiction and injury he was severely depressed. He commit suicide about two years ago.

Opioids have a bigger negative impact than just causing ODs (my father overdosed multiple times and survived), they have severe impact on an individual's day to day life and the life of their family and friends.
