Barrie, ON - As a beneficiary, how long is the approx time wait to receive monetary funds from estate?

Going through similar - there is something called The Executor's Year, whereby Estates should be mostly wrapped up within this timeframe and one should ve waiting fog the CRA final Estate Clearance. However, fully expect that the Executor is going to do what they want to do when they want to do it, and can absolutely make things difficult for you as they see fit. Beneficiaries have no "rights" per se, and the system is heavily tipped in favor of the Executor. All this to say, the Executor cannot hold on the the money forever, you have the right to review the expenditures etc at the end, and don't hold your breath with respect to timeframe as there is absolutely no means at your disposal to get things moved along other than spending thousands and thousands of dollars in legal fees yourself. I am in month 18 of the settlement of a very small and very, very simple Estate (all cash, no assets of note, no real estate, nothing). The Beneficiaries are STILL waiting for an Interim payment and have watched the Executor spend over $12,000 on the care and management of $2000 worth of Estate physical Assets. It's insane.
