Deescalation training is a form of “use of force”, in a officers use of force model. I’d wager deescalation techniques are the most taught now.

The problem is you can train and train and train. But when it’s a real life situation, you have no idea how you’re going to react. Hopefully your training prevails. A gun is a gun is gun, it’s only to met with another gun, and of no shots are fired then you can talk.

I don’t know what transpired before he was shot or the timeframe, but active shooter and the “good man with a gun” scenario is garbage.

A lot of police train a scenario like this (around here), cept it’s a plainclothes Officer with either his badge hanging from a chain on his neck or attached to his belt...

You guessed it, the plain clothed person usually gets shot. It’s a rush of adrenaline and fear.
