Weird thing. Growing up I had a lot of chores. I don’t begrudge my mom this. She was single and struggling financially. What did bug me though was that I would also make games of my chores and that would bug her to no end. I never understood why she got so worked up over that. As I got into my teens I became more surly and less inclined to enjoy things in general. So I stopped playing around and having fun while doing chores. Then she’d get onto me for being too serious.

It sucks never being on sure footing in a relationship. This carried over into my relationships as a young adult. Eventually I wised up to the pattern. As a result, I work to be mindful of this in my relationships with others. I’m not always successful but I am doing better.
