Leftism evolved, step by step, backstab by backstab, as Christian Europeans signalled their dislike with the status quo by gently pushing the state religion just a little bit further, in the direction most likely to get people on your side, and prevent the powerful from punishing you.

And so, every little step in the way, power-seekers moved the consensus to the left (What does that mean?) .And open societies, democratic systems are by their decentralized nature, and by the size of their constituencies, much more vulnerable to this sort of signalling attacks. It is but impossible to appraise and enforce the loyalty of every single individual involved in a modern state. There’s too many of them. A Medieval King had a better chance of it; hence the slow movement of ideological innovation in those days. But the bigger the organization, the harder it is to gather accurate information of the loyalty of the whole coalition; and hence the ideological movement accelerates. And there is no stopping it.
What strange world do we take a vague, nebelous, understanding of 'Christianity,' and equate that to Maoism, complain about a Cult of Personality, and then put that under the umbrella of Leftism? Why is Leftism inherently a cult of personality, when a cult of personality takes multiple forms? More importantly, does this guy believe Leftism = Statism? Therefore all governments are 'Leftist?' Or is Left change? Then that by that logic it means we ought to serve the British Crown as well, because that was change!
Well in this bizarre world where terms are thrown around to represent the boogeyman, I define "conservative" as upholding a current order. If that means reform, fine. I'm smart enough to change with the times.
And if my presentation of information is bothering, then don't bother. It isn't my job to educate strangers. Especially Western Conservative men, who are outright cuckolded because they can be too prideful to admit they dropped the ball.
