I'm all about science, so specificity and using proper terminology is important to me. Habby is also right, though, that you need to understand your audience.

~14% of Americans are functionally illiterate. There are people who not only don't know what these buzzwords mean but they don't really have the means to check, certainly not every one that pops up (I swear every few weeks there is a new term I'm unfamiliar with popping up in mainstream media.)

My real concern is that massive swaths of the American population are being soft-locked out of politics, and that the political system has been co-opted by the media/massive corporations that use these innocent-sounding words to normalize things that would have caused massive upheaval in the political system only a couple decades prior.
